I began programming with PHP and MySQL in 2003; the project was a custom CMS to run a private website for a prominent family in the community. Nothing quite like starting with a simple, introductory project to get my feet wet. Even in those early days, the ease and speed with which applications could be developed in a LAMP environment meant that PHP and MySQL quickly became a favorite development medium for me. I have followed PHP from the early days of PHP4 to the object-oriented PHP5 and it continues to be the main language in which I program.
