This fixed-position, fixed-dimension layout is done using tableless HTML and CSS for styling and positioning. The dropshadow around the frame is actually part of the background image. Poor cross-browser support for image formats supporting alpha-channel blending meant that options were limited to GIFs or PNGs; GIFS only offer transparency and the alpha-channel properties of PNG images are not supported propertly across all browsers. Because the design specifications called for the content frame being fixed-position and fixed-dimension this approach worked very well.

The design was done by a marketing agency and sent to me as a Photoshop proof to be cut and converted into HTML.
